SPORT BODY COMPOSITION

BODY COMPOSITION

  • Body weight affects speed, endurance and power.
  • Body composition has an impact on strength, agility and appearance.
  • Body composition and weight may contribute to optimum performance.
  • However, athlete performance should NOT be determined based on body weight and body composition.


SKILL SPORT
Does not depend on body composition such as Golf, archery, shooting. This kind of sports depend on skill.

HIGH ENDURANCE SPORTS
For high endurance sport low body fat improves performance and power. Increases efficiency and heat release. Reduces "dead weight" which body have to carry it or against the effects of gravity. For example long distance running, triathlon, road cycling and jumping sports.

AESTHETIC SPORTS
Control of low body fat is important, so that appearance is similar for each sport events and biomechanical efficiency during tumbling. Examples are Gymnastics, diving, and surfing.
